All of us at the University of New Mexico
face a variety of issues in our daily lives. Most of the time
we are able to
cope with these problems on our own.
There are times when our problems might become too difficult to handle alone.
Our relationships, our work, and our health can begin to suffer. The University
of New Mexico established CARS – The Counseling Assistance and Referral
Services to respond to the human needs of its Staff and Faculty.
CARS is available to all benefits eligible UNM
Faculty and Staff. The program provides a confidential and accessible
setting in
which employees can freely discuss concerns that are affecting
their personal life or job performance.
The University of New Mexico Counseling Assistance and Referral
Services Staff is committed to providing professional employee
assistance services to all levels of staff in an atmosphere of
privacy and confidentiality that is within the limits of all
applicable laws and codes of ethics.
The intent of CARS is to provide services to those who choose to request help
with their concerns and not to be intrusive.
Services provided by the CARS staff are free to all benefits
eligible Faculty and Staff. You are also allowed work time to attend CARS appointments.
Please refer to University Personnel Business Policy #3270 – CARS,
for more information.
